The Energy Saver Incentive is a Victorian Government initiative aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and encouraging the efficient use of energy.

The key objectives include:
• Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions.
• Encourage the efficient use of electricity and gas.
• Encourage investment, employment, and technology developments in industries that supply goods and services which reduce the use of electricity and gas by consumers.
• For the first three years of the scheme (2009-2011), the target is to achieve a reduction of 2.7 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.
• This three-year target will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a total of 8.1 million tonnes, which is the equivalent of making around 675,000 households carbon-neutral for a year.

Who does the Energy Saver Incentive affect?

The Energy Saver Incentive affects both retailers and consumers of electricity and gas. As of January 2009, the Victorian Government has made energy retailers responsible for improving the energy efficiency of residential homes like yours.
