Energy Saver Incentive Installation Programme
The Embertec EmberplugTM Installation Program requires a visit to each participating household by a professionally accredited Installer for the purpose of installing the eligible amount of the Embertec EmberplugTM products. Installation of these products will result in energy savings and therefore will be eligible for the creation of VEECs (Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates) under the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007. VEECs are designed to support households with reduction of electricity bills and greenhouse gas emissions. Each VEEC represents one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO²) abated by a prescribed activity.
Why is installation and product FREE?
Householders are able to assign their right to create VEECs to an accredited person. In assigning their right to an accredited person (Installer), the accredited person will be entitled to create and own the certificates in respect of the prescribed activity undertaken by the consumer. In return, the accredited person should provide consumers with an identifiable benefit for the assignation, in this case, the free product and installation.
Who is participating in the VEET scheme?
The Essential Services Commission (ESC) administers the scheme. The installing organizations (such as Green Made Easy) are participating as an ‘accredited person’ which means they create VEECs by installing Emberplugs in residential households. The VEECs are then sold to liable parties who are required to surrender them to the State Government as a demonstration of their support for energy efficiency measures. If they don’t surrender enough certificates penalties will apply.
